Use quality shampoos and conditioners specifically for your hair type, plus an intensive conditioning treatment on a weekly basis and have a trim every eight to 10 weeks to prevent loss of condition and split ends.

Straight with a sleek, smooth, shiny finish is the ideal raw material for creating perfect ponytails, chignons and wraps, but ditch the straighteners and get to grips with radial brushes to achieve a more hair-friendly flexible straightness.

Ask your stylist for some pointers. Hairdressers sometimes talk about optimum hair length, where hair grown beyond this point seems to lose condition, so do be prepared to sacrifice some of your ambitions if professionally advised to do so, as slightly shorter and shiny is more attractive than super-long but with a straggly, Catweazle effect.

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

Cut it at least like 4 inches and get it layered. If your hair is being impossible one day put it in a high ponytail.

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

French braids look really good on people with long hair.

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

hey.. i have really long hair too. Is yours straight and easy to manage? If it is then i reccommend buying a few hair clips.. not to do anything complicated with, but a few small ones can scoop it out of your face slightly and give it more of a natural curve at the top of the length of hair.

One of my favourite things to do is to pull hair from the front (near the forehead) backwards and secure with a pretty (larger) hair slide, grip or clip. This can look mumsey but if your hair is long and straight or wavy it can look chic and more interesting than just leaving it hang. A pretty, glittery clip at the back is a good idea.. not just a boring standard brown or black one.

Oh and I also am a fan of sidepartings.. they complement long hair well.

Hope this helps!

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

ok ......... wait to make this easier just email me @ hoturnot8@yahoo.com

my mom is a hair dresser:)

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

Lose a bit of the length - cut it shorter at the sides and go for the "fem-mullet" look. Worked for me.

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

try chignon. so sophisticated!!lol. or simply braid your hair with different styles

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

Why not invest in some curling tongs. Just a few strands of curled hair can make the world of difference!

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

first i would like to say you are so lucky to be tall and have long hair i would say just wear it down straight but if your like me you just sometimes need to get it out of your way so i would reccomend 2 long french plaits, half up half down,or a headband

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

Cut your hair extremely short, approximately 5mm from scalp to hair end.

This has the advantages of saving you from combing it, and also washing it will use less water, and therefore help to save the planet. Because you will use less hot water, your energy bill will be reduced, also.

You're welcome.

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

try getting your hair cut to mid back. it will be easier to manage and won't come as such a shock as long hair combined with height. also try to pull back the top half of hair into a clip or hairtie. it will look really good

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

I had a long hair too.but I cut it last year and now I regret.I suggest you not cutting it.just the end of it and don't use gels so much.your hair will start falling soon.if you decided to cut it , do it in a way that doesn't reduce the height of it... :D

I have long hair, need some styling tips!?

Ally had some nice ideas. Also look in hair style magazines for ideas. I would suggest though, that you cut off a few inches and donate it to 'Locks of Love'. an organisation that donates hair pieces to children who have lost their hair due to different reasons.

Then your hair will probably have more body and you can get some nice layers cut in.......and you will feel good about yourself for doing your part!

Ive read other answers.. Dont cut your hair, anyway its beatiful. If you have problems with it and you would like some help, consult professional hair stylists before taking drastic actions. Im sure they will suggest you better ideas than cuting. Check this website:

I chopped off my long hair and now it doesn't look oily the next day. Why is this?

My hair was long, like past my bra strap. I had to wash it every day because it would look really really greasy the next morning. I chopped it off and now my hair is shorter then shoulder length and in the morning my hair doesn't look greasy at all, it looks like I just washed and blow dryed it. I didn't change the products I was using or anything. Why would that happen?

I chopped off my long hair and now it doesn't look oily the next day. Why is this?

Because when your hair was long it was being pulled down by the weight of your hair which was giving you less volume and making your hair look flat. Because of that, you were noticing the oil on your roots more.

Now that it's short, you are getting more volume, and your hair isn't so flat to your head and you're not getting as oily and not noticing it as much.

I chopped off my long hair and now it doesn't look oily the next day. Why is this?

Were you using too much conditioner/product?

I chopped off my long hair and now it doesn't look oily the next day. Why is this?

your hair will now be a hell of a lot lighter which will let air get to your hair now and it will be easier to wash which i no to well because my hair used to be at my hips and then i got it cut to my shoulders and i found it so much easier to wash my hair and make sure that akk of my hair gets a good shampoo and what not so maybe why your hair isnt as oiley

I chopped off my long hair and now it doesn't look oily the next day. Why is this?

your hair is much healthier now that you've cut the damaged ends off!

keep taking care of it and getting trims and you might not have to greasy/oily look ever again.

I chopped off my long hair and now it doesn't look oily the next day. Why is this?

it's amazing what happens when one cuts their hair.

and ya, it's cos your hair doesn't weigh a ton now. it's more free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does having really long hair have any hygenic or health related ...badness?

I was just wondering. My friend has really long hair, but she refuses to cut it and wants to break the world record, whatever that may be. I was just wondering if the fact that she never ties it up and that it goes into her food and when she goes down on all fours her hair sweeps the ground if that is unhygenic or something.

Does having really long hair have any hygenic or health related ...badness?

No. It is more cumbersome to keep clean and looking good, but there are no health issues.

Does having really long hair have any hygenic or health related ...badness?

Yes it is because the hair picks up the dirtyness from the floor, so she should put it up sometimes.

Does anybody have REALLY long hair..if you do...how do you manage to keep it down!?

My hair is about butt-length. I would like to try to wear it down more often. I always put it in a polytail, braids, or a huge clip to keep it up. In the morning I don't have 2 hours to fix my hair to just to have it look straight, it takes forever! Whats the best way to curl it? Whats a faster way to do my hair in the mornings? Also, it seems I have really bad split-ends or just my hair is really frizzy. Whats the best soultion to my problem? For people that do have super long hair...how can it not get on your nerves sometimes? lol. Im growing it out for locks of love if anyone wants to know.

Does anybody have REALLY long hair..if you do...how do you manage to keep it down!?

I would get a trim. Just the ends. I used to have waist length hair but recently got it cut up to my shoulders. It's so much easier. You'll be happy when the time comes to donate it. It also depends on whether you have straight or curly hair. If you have curly or wavy hair let it air dry with a little product in it so it doesn't get to frizzy. Never brush through your hair always use a comb, this helps with the frizz.

Does anybody have REALLY long hair..if you do...how do you manage to keep it down!?

If you are growing it out for locks of love then it is plenty long enough. Going that long between regular trimmings isn't good for your hair. If you want to wear it down I suggest going and donating it and getting a cute cut that is easier to manage.

Does anybody have REALLY long hair..if you do...how do you manage to keep it down!?

My hair is about waist length and it aggrivates me like crazy, I keep saying I'm gonna get it cut. I take pony tail holders and put them about 2 or 3 inches apart all the way down. You could braid it to keep it back. I do the twist and clip, lol. For split ends. Alberta V05 Hot oil is the best.

Does anybody have REALLY long hair..if you do...how do you manage to keep it down!?

My hair isn't that long, but it is long (about mid-back). I do a weekly deep conditioning mask to prevent from split ends and frizz. Also before you blow dry or air dry your hair, apply a frizz or smoothing balm to prevent unruly hair. The best way to make hair curly is to use a curling iron, however that would take a lot of time. Try spritzing hair with a curl enhancing spray or a beachy wave formula. If you don't have time in the morning, take a shower at night and either

1. apply a smoothing balm to your wet hair and let it dry overnight and then style in the morning (straighen, curl, briad, etc.)

2. let hair dry in a towel for 45 minutes and then blow dry. In the morning style your hair

3. Braid your wet hair at night for lucious waves in the morning

Get a 1/2- 1 inch trim to get rid of dead ends that you may already have to keep hair healthy.

Good Luck with your hair, and it is great that it is going to a good cause!!

Does anybody have REALLY long hair..if you do...how do you manage to keep it down!?

My hair was always like that, now its short but i just straightened it a bit on the kinky parts then i left it and went to school! Curling your hair takes a lot longer then straightening it because you need to heat it up,then curl it which takes a while for long hair, then fix it and spray it with hairspray! So straightening is the best way in the long run unless you have pin straight hair then just lay it back iwth a holding spray and brush it good before you spray it (or you could get a hair cut) A good iron is CHI . Good luck!!

Does anybody have REALLY long hair..if you do...how do you manage to keep it down!?

Please do NOT donate your hair to "Locks of Love". They are a complete scam ! Check out give.org's take on them:

http://www.give.org/reports/care2_dyn.as...

Locks of love made only 113 wigs in an entire year, they SELL the majority of the hair received (for extensions) and they do not allow for independent auditing of their financial records. Who knows where the money from selling hair really goes to, somebody's pocket perhaps ?

A lot of hair doesn't even make it Locks of Love, type in "human hair ponytail" on EBay and look at all those listings. That hair is being sold to hair fet*shists.

If you don't mind your hair ending up on Paris Hilton's back or sold to a pervert though ....... go ahead and "donate"

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

My hair is semi-straight, semi-wavy naturally, but I straighten it a LOT. it is 2 and a half feet long, and I can't cut it because of religious implications. It is black and slightly frizzy (it doesn't puff out or anything, but it's not totaly smooth). my hair is also very thin, so though it straightens and curls well, there is not much i can do with it. does anyone have any ideas on how to make it look good??

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

I think a french braid would look really pretty. You are also very fortunate to have such long hair because you can do amazing updos. Try this style: Put your hair in a ponytail just above the nape of your neck. Curl the ponytail in 1 inch sections and pin the curls above the ponytail in different sections. This can be dressy when you put the ponytail higher, or casual if you put it lower. I wish I had long hair like you!

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

GET LAYERS

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

Well, you can cut your hair, put your hair up then put a clip like the hair due "Roster"

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

Pig-tails and a school girl uniform always looks good.

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

my hair is about the same as you described but it is very thick. I usually wear it in layers with the ends slightly bent, curled with rollers or, in french braids.

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

add volume by useing voluming pumping mouse or try to srunch your hair with gel it looks good on everyone

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

Well to thicken it more try a shampoo and conditioner called main and tale its really for horses but people now n days try it. i tried it and my hair is long n thick. But it will dry it out so only use it once or twice a week. you can buy it at any grocery store.

you should use a straightener serum on your hair before so taht your hair will not die.

if you want more bounce then try a mouse and scrunch it im sure since your hair is really long it will take more mousse but it will stay then spray some hairspray when your done.

you can try vangs, the new teased pony tails, bigger waves, put ur hairline at another part.

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

hmm i sympathize u cant cut ur hair...stop straightening ur hair since u havent ever cut it it wont grow due to split ends and damaging it will only ruin ur hair more and there is no chance for repair bc it wont grow...

try to braid it like french or do like a messy bun those are realli in

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

hello...I have pretty long hair myself (to the small of my back) and I too can't cut it...same reason as you.

if I don't have time at all to style my hair I put it in a "messy bun" as I like to call it...just put you hair in a pony tail, then just grab your hair and bunch it all together...its ok if strands are poking out..thats what a messy bun should look like..then tie your hair like you would a bun...

Or I pin it with a barette...looks professional whe I part my hair to the side then do a half-ponytail and clip it with a barette

theres LOTS of styles you can come up with...you can create your own style...just start messing with your hair and see what you come up with! its just that many others with long hair just don't feel like styling it cause it takes time...and yes...to get the results you want..it WILL take time to get it the way you want it. Trust me...it'll all be worth it!

Good luck!

Really Long Hair- what can I do??

For more thickness use pantene pro-v full and thick and for a hair style for ur beautiful hair i say do the first half of your hair in flat twists and then drop curl the back, ok. Its simple and looks great on any body with ur kind of hair and the curls make ur hair look thicker so this hair style will compliment you face and you hair aswell.

Is long hair bad or good?

I have long hair,I like my hair but sometimes its annyoing.

Is long hair bad or good?

GOOD, but you are right it can get annoying esp. if its long AND curly...its gets tangled so easy...

-chai

Is long hair bad or good?

long hair can be cute but its very annoying and may cause very bad headaches. so if you start getting headaches def. cut your hair

Is long hair bad or good?

Long hair are pretty to look at, so its good to have them. Also, they are difficult to manage, so bad too.

Is long hair bad or good?

There's no bad or good about long hair. It's what you're comfortable with. If your long tresses get in the way, then tie your hair back.

Is it true that long & short hair are based on genetics?

I thought that EVERYONE could grow long hair. I didn't know that there was a long hair gene %26amp; a short hair gene. My tutor told me that in high school.

That might explain why some people's hair grows faster than others.

Is it true that long %26amp; short hair are based on genetics?

My understanding is that hair will grow for a certain period of time, and at a certain rate, before that strand of hair falls out and is replaced. Both the growth rate and longevity of the hair is genetically determined. Therefore, some people will be able to grow their hair very long, while some others will not. The hair simply falls out before it reaches that length.

Is it true that long %26amp; short hair are based on genetics?

Human hair has an indeterminate growth. It will grow unless you stop it. We don't have short haired people. We do have short haired dogs. Most animals that have fur have a determined length. It grows to a point, then it is shed or exchanged for another coat of fur. Same goes for feathers, grows to a certain point, stops, is shed, regrows.

Is it true that long %26amp; short hair are based on genetics?

wow you run into uninformed people

It's true, some peoples hair grows faster than others. Mine for example grows almost twice as fast as an average person's hair. Some people have hair that grows slowly.

Also, some people have brittle hair. It breaks off at a certain WEIGHT. It's not that it's impossiable to grow your hair. It's that your hair will break. hair is constantly growing and if it didn't break off, anyone could grow their hair like rapunzle(sorry, bad simmile)

So it's not genetics that makes your hair short or something like that. It's how strong it is.
