Long hair guy - side/hat problems?

I'm a teenage guy with blonde/straight hair. My bangs go down to my eyebrows, the back of my hair goes a few inches from my neck and the side of my hair covers my ears and goes on part of my face. Whenever a wear a hat, the hair on/behind my ears go upwards. It doesn't look good but sometimes I push the hair forwards on my face and tuck some hair behind the ears. It improves the look but not by much. This also can make my sides sweaty which makes me want to shave my head.

I've been trying to get the Bumble %26amp; Bumble/Garnier salt water surf products to dry my hair out so its more wavy which should prevent the sweat and make my hair look better with the hat. But if that doesn't work, will I have to get my sides cut shorter? Someone suggested that I get my sides completely cut off and just leave the top long. I'm not sure if this is a good idea. Or I could just get the hair that covers my ears shorter so it doesn't cover the entrie ear but I don't want to look like I'm five. Thanks

First of all, it sounds liek you have nice hair so why do you want to cover it with a hat?

Secondly, you might actually be better off by letting it grow out a little longer that way it tucks behind your ears a bit better. Sounds like you've hit an awkward too long/too short period.

I say just tough it out.
