Trimming Long Hair, does it matter?

I am a Male. I grew my Hair out about 4 inches past my chin.

I have never Trimed it. [2 years without a Hair cut]

I do not Wash it everyday....

I have a Feeling it stoped growing?

I am seeing a lot of Hair Falling out. More than a 100 strands.

The only time I brush it is when i get out of the Shower, so its wet.

I think thats were i am loosing most of it.

I dont whant to trim my Hiar, cause then i will have to Cutt it off, and i whant to kep it long.

yes, the end of your hair ends up w/ split ends if you do not, which can lead to frail breakage , which is never good trust me trim half an inch once a month

ya you need to trim it because if you dont your hair is gonna get damaged and your going to get split ends. If you trim it it will grow faster

have you been near a nuclear reactor? trimming hair will stimulate growth

You might be able to keep the back of it long, but if the front hairs are falling out, you're going to end up looking like David Crosby. Regardless of employability and the current (longtime) unpopularity of mullets, such a hairstyle can't look good.

I don't think it has stopped growing in the back, though you need to see what part of your hair dries quickly compared to the rest of it - that's how you can also tell where you're losing it.

Just get a light trim to get rid of any split ends. Hair will only grow a certain amount before it stops, falls out and replaces itself. Each hair on your head and body has a life span. If you don't wash everyday, you are collecting all the hair from those days and they come out when you do brush or wash. Normal.

Male or female does not matter...hair grows about 1/2 inch a month. Trimming just neatens up the ends and gets rid of split ends and does not affect the speed hair grows.

Don't brush your hair when you come out of the shower, use a wide tooth comb and use a good quality conditioner after every wash. We all lose hair but the time we are most likely to notice any loss is when we brush. Maybe you should brush more often to stimulate your scalp...just a thought ;)

hair never stops growing. you might have split ends, so cutting your hair wod be a good idea.

Okay, one thing that you need to do is stop brushing your wet hair! Brushing wet hair causes splits and breakage that can make it seem as if your hair isn't growing. So, rather than ripping a brush through your hair, use some conditioner in the shower, then gently comb it from the ends up with a wide-tooth seamless comb.

When you get out of the shower, blot, do not rub your hair dry. Then use a drop of conditioner, work it through your ends and length and gently comb again. Did I mention to be gentle?

Now, let your hair air dry. Using heat on hair is damaging and can cause breakage, slowing the growth you see in your length.

If you have had a lot of splits and breaking, a trim may be just what your hair most needs, right now. You don't have to chop off all of your hair! Just have your barber trim 1/2" or 1". That should take care of any split ends and help your ends be thicker, stronger and healthier-looking.

If you are serious about growing long, healthy hair, I suggest that you search out and join a good long hair site. They are a wealth of terrific information on the growing, care and feeding of long, beautiful hair. Good luck. I HTH a little.
