Making long hair out of short hair using extensions?

Yes, 3-4inches worth of hairlength means your suited to getting extensions.

There are various kinds on the market, and they all attch to your own hair through different methods.

Clip in extensions: These are temporary and come in small sections or (wefts) with a small comb like clip that attaches to the root areas of your hair.

Weaves: these are bands of hair that are arranged in a row on a string or strip, and are braided or woven into your hair at the root, sitting under the topmost layers which hide the weaving. They're a more permenant option, but easily removed.

Bonded extensions: this is when small clustered hair sections are attached to your own hair with specific glue/bonding agents. They're permenant, and grow out with the hair. However, they can be quite damaging to your own hair if and when you choose to have them removed - hence, they are often a cheaper option. Also when using heated hair appliances, the glue tends to become tacky and coat your hair when smoothed down the hairshaft - another negative.

Threaded extentions: small pieces of your own hair are pulled through a small plastic or metal ring and secured close to the scalp. They grip your own hair in tiny bunches. These in my opinion, create the most natural looking hair extensions and aren't as easy to detect.

These are afew of the most popular methods of attaching hair extensions used by hairdressers. Whichever method your choose will depend on availability, preference and budget
