People who hate long hair?

It seems there are some people who compulsively loathe people who do not have short hair. They always remind people when they should get a haircut. I know two very different people who have the same behavior when it comes to long hair. Of course, I'm referring to long hair for men.

Is this something that was taught to them by parents or is it just another common pet peeve?

Do you mean that they miss no opportunity to tell a guy he needs a haircut?

It seems to me like they have preconceived notion of what a male should look like and are too narrow-minded to let people do as they please - as long as it's not illegal.

I wouldn't want my man to have long hair, but I don't mind if men in general have longer hair - as long as it's kept clean.

2 of my friends are like that and they are just pet peeves for them but my one friend has parents who dont like the long hair thing for guys and they taught him to not like it either!

we are way different from each other, but we try to get along because we think different from eachother and have different perspectives on how we look at things.

Yes they also loathe tattoos and piercings. They are nosy body jerks. I love all people no matter what they look like. There are also people out there that remind you every time you get fat too. Good luck to them the perfect people. May nothing horrible ever happen to them.

I love long hair on guys still ,,,,My daughters boyfriend has long hair and he gets so much grief and crap cuz of it ,,and he is really a NICE GUY,,,,Its a shame people are too blind by what they see and NOT know....

i think we are always taught that long hair is unclean or not professional or just for hippies. maybe some drugged out rock stars. I think most people look down upon those with long hair. as for me i freakin love it. ciao

I dated a guy with long hair once, and my father wouldn't let him sit at the table with us during dinner because he was afraid his hair would get in the food. My whole family has hair no longer that shoulder length, and my dad found it disgusting that his hair was so long. I will say, also, that I ask for a new waiter if I'm at a restaurant and my waiter has long hair. Or even waitress if its not pulled back. I really don't want dirty, gross hair in my food!

it's because their parent's called those guys hippies or whatever they said and they were viewed as unclean or bad in the eyes of the parents.Kind of like parents who are racists and don't mind being so in front of their kids.You have to grow up with a really strong sense of self in order to overcome having the same screwed up ways as your parents in those situations and most people just don't have that.

It was somewhat taught to me by my parents, partially on my personal opinion and mainly on the many years I spent as an Army Ranger. I can't stand long hair on men. It was in style in the 70's then in the 80's the big hair was in style which was good then but times have changed.

No one answer. For some it's the association with hippies or lazy people versus the disciplined hard work of someone in the military with short hair. For some they just like a guy to look conventionally masculine and associate long hair with femininity, although of course it can look very masculine as in Tarzan! For some, they just can't bear people who don't follow convention......it is a very good question, gets my star!! :)

I am like this. It looks absolutely ridiculous. It's not a pet peeve, it's a preference. I truly think guys that have long hair are ugly. You could have the most beatiful faces, but then your long hair. It's just gross. I don't even like it if it's shoulder length. I barely can stand that new hairdo that the guys are wearing, I guess they call it the surfer look or something? Cut it, your a guy, cut it! For instance, I dated a guy that had shoulder length hair, and only because my friends pressured me to go on a date with him. Unfortunate for me, I acutally really like his personality. Then, fortunately for me, he wanted a "trim". Guess who's hair dresser he went to? Yup, mine, and guess who called her hair dresser to give her the heads up that he needed some "convincing". Well 3 years later, he still wears his hair short and loves it. We're not together, but, that's of no essence.

People generally don't like people who are different to themselves and this is because they want to make sure that their choice is better than the other person's (i.e choosing to have short hair). So they criticise the people with long hair, to make themselves feel that they have made the better choice in having short hair. This is to do with us trying to have a good esteem and make ourselves feel better.
