I have decided to grow out my hair as long as I can get it, just out of curiosity. I am newly single and feel like a change as I had to keep my hair pretty short for my ex. I was wondering what you guys (and girls) think of very long hair - waist length or longer? Are all those rennaissance style women with long braids still considered sexy or is long hair yuck these days? I'm specifically talking about long hair in good condition that's silky/glossy, not split or dry. Damaged, easily broken or thin hair should be kept shorter in my opinion. Also, is there an age where long hair just looks bad on women? I'm 22, but what about older women? All opinions very welcome!

Long hair is definitely a lot sexier... I think it's one hair style that never goes out of fashion. Yeah, I highly suggest letting it grow as long a possible. Good luck with all that.

I like long hair, but not really long, you know the type of hair that just looks really flat and heavy because it's so long, i think that looks bad, i don't think long hair should really go dawn past your belly button. I don't like short short hair, like above your shoulders, unless it's on older women. I guess i'm more of a medium length hair kinda girl!!1

I am 30. And I am a cosmetologist. I would love my hair to be a lot longer than what it is. there are so many possibilities with long hair. ( some fustrations too) But in my opinion and my clients we feel that hair and style is mainly about comfort. So if you feel comfortable with long hair and sexy by all means GO FOR IT!! Get your groove back.

As for age and long hair, it all goes back to comfort and the way YOU feel about it.

in my opinion a little bit longer than medium is pretty no matter what hair color you have.my hair goes to the middle of my back.

i get it trimmed every 4-5 weeks.i think that makes your hair more even and smooth at the ends it also makes your hair grow faster

i think that peoples hair past their waist makes you look older,but that's just what i think.also when your hair is that long it is very hard to wash and it will get all over your body in the shower and just on normal days.

i think you should just keep it above your waist.but go ahead and do what you think looks best just remember it is your hair

I grew my hair down to my boobs once (This took two years).

Towards the end, I just found it really difficult to maintain and the ends often ended up dry while my roots were greasy. Plus, I found it very heavy.

Nowadays I have a growing out crop (I normally find short hair less work and I feel much more confident with shorter hair). I want to grow it long again so I can have colour put on the underneath section.

I think how good or bad long hair looks depends on its condition, cut and length rather than age. I say go for it if you want to... although I'm not sure how one would manage with hair waist-length or longer!

Sure long hair is beautiful if it is clean, shiny and healthy looking. It takes a bit longer to wash it and dry it, but men love to see a women with long hair. I would say go for the mid back lenght and watch the faces of the men looking at you. A guys face is the best judge of whether or not you look attractive to them. (note: it can feel like a blanket on your back during the summer).

I'm 25 %26amp; I've had hair past my waist for a very long time. I actually only came across this post trying to find a new do :p I don't want to lose any length, but it's so hard to style. I pretty much wear it up in a ponytail or a bun when I'm not doing anything special, or I straighten or curl it when I'm going out.... it gets very boring after a while!! If you don't mind having limited options as far as styles go, or are willing to spend a LONG time styling it.... it's great in my opinion :)
