Smooth coat or Long hair chihuahua ?

Im getting a chihuahua but i donno if i should get the long hair one or the short ahir one. I heard that the long coat one doesnt shed as much. i love the look of the smooth coat one more but the texture of their hair arnt as soft as the long hair one i think..

so if you had experience with chihuahua ..pls help me : )

I could not decide either so ended up with 2 of each. The long coats do shed less, but I love them both.

Long coat: Long, soft to touch, slight waviness is permissible. They have a lot of fringe and often have an undercoat. They have a large fringe on the neck and feathering on the tail, feet and legs. Short coat: Short, glossy, dense, and soft to touch. Both versions may come from the same whelp, although the interbreeding of the two is not allowed anymore.

Chihuahuas are bold or shy, playful and very alert. They love to alert their owners to whatever is going on, and some tend to bark. Some breeds are afraid when the wind blows, while others will challenge dogs many times the size of themselves. They tend to be quite devoted to one person. They are sometimes reserved with strangers and a favorite among the elderly. They are graceful, humorous, and a good watchdog. Although playful, Chihuahuas are not to be messed around with. They can be aggressive towards other dogs and wary of strangers. On top of that, they are quite fragile and do not tend to realize it when picking a fight.

i've only really "met" smooth coated chihuahuas, but i think you have to think about your life style. which one do you think looks better? (i like the long haired ones better) how often do you want to have to groom it? (not very often? get the smooth coat... they're obviously less work)

I think getting a long-hair chihuahua is better because the one i had was easy to keep since i LOVED brushing her hair everyday in the evening and you can tie her hair up or something and if she does shed (like on my clothes or on the couch) i can easily get the lint roller and get all the long hair and roll it up and throw away for the birds...as for the short hair chi, i think it would get a bit difficult getting it to stick to the lint..

Well to me it really depends on what the dogs features are and what color but i would say both. ha ha

Long Coat Chihuahua! I've had one for 13 years had to leave him back home and I've been dying to get another dog. Long Coats are cuter (I am so sorry but I think it's true) and if anyone in your family has allergies they don't shed as much as short hair chi's do so it's not as much of a problem (we've had both).
