Question about growing long hair?????????

I am trying to grow my hair long. I have very thick but very fine straight hair . My hair is currently about neck length. I have a problem though. When my hair dries after i shower, it is almost impossible to comb through the back of my hair. What can i do about this? I don't want to damage my hair because it looks really good. It's just so hard to comb through the back. I shower with conditioner and cold water and let it air dry. How can i comb the back of my hair more easily? Advise greatly appreciated.

Question about growing long hair?????????

Use a good, gentle shampoo and conditioner (I use Mane 'n Tail, and my hair is below my hips). Wash and rinse your hair with warm water, just use cold for the final rinse after you have everything rinsed out. With Mane 'n tail, it doesn't matter so much, you can supposedly rinse out or leave in. I've never tried leaving it in, myself.

After you towel dry you hair (just squeeze water out and wrap in a towel, never rub), liberally use a leave-in conditioner/detangling spray. I'm currently using VO5 Detangle %26amp; Shine. Sunsilk Thermal Shine is good, too. Basically, anything that makes it easy to comb will work. Concentrate on the areas that are hard to comb, and the ends.

Use a comb with very widely spaced teeth, a detangling comb. Take your time and gently comb through. If you pull, you will break hair, which will cause split ends, frizzies, all sorts of problems. Start at the bottom when combing and work you way up, it's easier that way. Take a section of hair and comb the bottom few inches, then move up a few more inches, comb again, and so on, till you get to the scalp. When you've combed all your hair section by section, then you can comb the entire head again to smooth and comb into place. Sounds time-consuming, but it's taken me nearly longer to type it than it does to do it!

Never ever brush wet hair. You can brush when it's dry, just do it gently. Use a 100% boar bristle brush, with the bristles set in a rubber cushion. That distributes the natural hair oils and makes your hair look glossy. Get regular trims, but don't let them cut more than inch or two off the back every six months or so. This will keep the ends healthy and keep hair growing well. You are right to avoid blow-drying your hair. That's really bad for it.

This is what I've learned after having very long hair most of my life. Hope my tips work for you. Good luck!

Question about growing long hair?????????

It damages your hair if you brush it while it is wet. Wait for it to dry and use some detangling spray.

Comb your hair in the shower while the conditioner is still in it.

Try using a brush instead of a comb, they are much easier to use.

Goodluck.

Question about growing long hair?????????

Comb your hair in the shower while the conditioner is still in it. This gets out all the tangles. Then wash the conditioner out well. If your hair is fine, you can try a volumizing mousse...but I actually find that putting stuff in fine hair after you are out of the shower makes it look greasy.

Also, blow drying your hair instead of letting it air dry will help with tangles. There is a new blow dryer with a brush attached to help straighten and get through any knots, which would be great. But if you comb with the conditioner in, I think you will see a major difference!

Question about growing long hair?????????

So you have problems combing the back of your hair? Try drying it with a hair dryer, then wet your comb a little, then comb it. If its still hard to comb it, just keep combing it downwards even though it might hurt but it would not damage your hair. After that, your hair will look like before and you can now comb it easier.

Question about growing long hair?????????

If you have a really hard time getting knots out- you might want to bring a comb into the shower with you and comb your hair while it is conditioned- therefore there is no damage and you get out all the tangles. If that doesnt work- you might want to try a deep conditioner- I use biolage.

Question about growing long hair?????????

I did have that problem til I cut my hair off. One thing that has always worked for me is Bio-silk it really helps to de-tangle long messy hair. I always had ratted up hair. Try it you will see a big difference. It makes your hair soft and silky, shiny, and it smells good to. Costs 20-30 dollars a bottle depending on where you get it. If you have a Sams wholesale club buy it there because you will get a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and a bottle of bio-silk for around $20-$25.

Question about growing long hair?????????

You should try combing your hair out when you are in the shower when you have the conditioner in it. Comb your hair while it has the conditioner in it and then rinse it out as you usually would. You should find that your hair is easier to remove the knots out of while your hair is wet and slippery with conditioner. Be careful though, don't rip and pull at your hair because its much easier to damage when its wet because the wetness makes it weaker.

I hope this helps, Seeyah

Question about growing long hair?????????

I found that using a combination of products is better than using one brand. I use head %26amp; shoulders shampoo for dandruff, almost any conditioner, then leave-in conditioner that really helps! I tried biosilk but it wasn't worth the money. I use Garnier Fructis leave-in conditioner, trust me I hate the smell of it but it's the Only thing that works so far. I've spent years and money on more expensive products like biosilk, Frizz-ease, and other salon only products but never got the results I was paying for.

You will know the conditioner is rinsed out because you will feel the difference while rinsing. I leave a towel on my head for a while then I brush it, put leavein conditioner and tie it up into a bun or clip for a few hours because even naturally air drying frizzes me up.
