I'm 19 years old with long hair that is down a little passed my boobs. I'm a little worried because I've noticed in the shower that when I gently pull on my hair to rinse the shampoo out, hair comes out. I take my vitamins, I work out almost everyday, and I would consider myself to be very healthy. However, I'm still a little worried. I have curly hair that I let air dry and I just put it up because of my busy schedule. I never brush it when it's curly, only when I straighten it. When it's straight, it doesn't seem to come out as much....it's kind of weird. Also, I wash my hair every other day instead of everyday just because it's healthier for your hair...and because I never brush it, I have to wonder if that's why it seems like more hair is comming out but I'm not sure. I know that you're supposed to lose 100 hairs a day but that seems like a lot to me because hair doesn't grow as fast as it comes out..ya know? and this might sound weird, but wouldn't u eventually run out of hair?
Long hair?? Losing hair in the shower??
It's completely normal! You've got over 100,000 hairs on your head, so losing 100 a day is no big deal.
When hair is kept shorter (like a guy's hair) the hairs fall out easily, and it isn't as noticeable when you lose them. But the longer your hair is and the curlier it is, the harder it is for the hairs to fall out unnoticed. They get tangled in with your other hairs, and most of them will come out during brushing or when you're washing your hair. That's why it seems like you lose more hair in the shower when your hair is curly; those 100 hairs a day were all trapped in there, and they're all coming out at the same time!
Trust me, I noticed the same thing when I was in high school, and I was convinced that I was going to be bald in 5 years. I'm 25 now, and my hair is just as thick as it was then. I probably lose about 30 hairs in the shower every day, and my hair is shorter than yours (a couple inches past my shoulders) and completely straight, so I lose more throughout the day probably. Of course, if you're still concerned, ask your doctor about it next time you're there. But I'm sure you're fine. :)
Long hair?? Losing hair in the shower??
OK i have hair like 3 or four inches above my butt and it is really thick. And I am 12 the same thing happens to me when i rinse out my hair. I have curly hair and when i dont straighten it comes out more than when it is straighten it has nothing to do with not brushing it. Because i brush my hair daily and it still happens to me. So it is not just you but it isnt a big thing and it is a problem it happens to a lot of people.
Long hair?? Losing hair in the shower??
This is perfectly normal. You don't use a brush on your hair which would take out alot of the hairs that you see in the tub. Because your hair is long is much more noticable than if it were short. When I had long hair it looked like I was losing much more hair than when it was short. I'm sure you're fine but if you're really worried you could ask your doctor. Or you could even ask your hairdresser if they think your hair is getting too thin.
Long hair?? Losing hair in the shower??
My hair is down to my butt, straight and fine. I have worn it this way forover 15 years. I shampoo and comb out my hair nearly every day (I have a grungy job) and every day I end up with a sizeable wad of hair out of my comb. I am not bald or even noticeably thinning yet, so I wouldn't worry too much.
Long hair?? Losing hair in the shower??
Same ting happens to me. Try combing your hair before shower with a wide tooth comb : http://www.amazon.com/Sephora-Wide-Tooth...
