Long, thick hair?

I have extremely think hair, and its red and long. I also have somewhat of a big head and this just adds to the effect. Short hair doesnt work for me either, so I want a long hair look that doesn't make my head look like a balloon. My biggest conflict is that my hair is so thick that it doesn't hang down by gravity. I have so many follicles that it just does what it wants sometimes. I use a good conditioner and shampoo every morning and my hair is decent, but I've seen people that have thick hair like mine that made it look good. Any suggestions?

okay, so your a guy, but I have very thick hair, in fact out of all the hairdresser I have been to, they have all said the same thing, "OMG I have never seen such thick hair"!

I have, over the passed 2yrs, used straighteners, and they do work, in fact, I am sure my hair, although still thick, is not as thick as it used to be!

So give them a try!

Get a really good haircut, alot of times they thin thick hair with thinning shears to reduce volume.

If you want to keep a one length hair try this. Shampoo and add mousse. Comb your hair flat to your head and hold it at the neck with a loose tie until it drys. When its dry just run your hands through it gently to lift it up some.

Have you tried the thinning that hairdressers can do? They use these special scissors that can half the volume of hair.

pic out a picture in a magazine and have it cut like that and get it thinned out if thick hair doesnt look good

use a styling gel when it is damp and comb it how you want it, if you hair is coarse, forget about it hanging by gravity.

I have long, thick, red hair too, and it's curly. My advice would be to ditch the layers ( been there, done that) it just means there are more angles for it to stick out at !. Try growing the layers out and start again. Aveda do some stuff in a blue pot called ' brilliance humicant'. It's expensive, but good. If you can find an Aveda stockist near you, eg House of Fraser, you can always try the tester pot first.
